I've been watching a fair share (well, probably slightly more -- maybe -- my share and -- three quarters of someone else's...) of TV, and I've decided to share my thoughts with you all on what I've been watching. This includes: Bones, Castle, Eureka, House, and Pushing Daisies. (Done in alphabetical order, because I might hyperventilate if I had to choose between whether I like Bones or Pushing Daisies more.)Bones:
Definite Spoilers( Yay Bones!goodness...Collapse )wintercreek
: Are you watching Bones? Because if not, you might like it. mouradar
and I have decided Booth (David Boreanaz) is Ray and Fraser combined. Castle:
For those of you who don't know, Castle is a new show on ABC, starring Nathan Fillion (yum!). As far as I know, there's only been three episodes. He stars as a burned out mystery writer who decides to shadow an actual cop (played by Stana Katic, who is pretty much unknown to me, although according to IMDB, she did something with Heroes. I don't remember her, which isn't a good sign). I'm hoping it hits its stride soon, because I really enjoy watching Nathan Fillion do things.
Things that I would fix, were it my show:
1. There's no chemistry AT ALL between Fillion and Katic. Which, can't really be fixed, per se, but -- it's pretty obvious that they're both eventually going to dig each other.
2. The girl who plays Fillion's daughter is adorable, but her character sucks. She's one of those "my father's irresponsible, so I'm going to be supergood!daughter and do nothing wrong." Wait -- correction -- there's a scene where she has a breakdown because she didn't tell her Dad about the time she jumped a turnstyle. And she ends up sentencing herself to a week's grounding. I get what they're trying to do, but I feel like it's missing the mark.
3. The crimes "tie themselves up" too quickly, only to be revealed that they really don't know who the killer is. So far all episodes have followed the same pattern, and it's a little boring.
4. Nathan Fillion needs to stop being quite so -- detective-y and astute. It's not likely. I don't care how much crime writing he does. He wouldn't be that good right away. Similarly, stop pushing how popular he is. Don't care if he knows Judge So-and-so. Just makes him look like a jerk.
5. Not enough funny.Eureka:
I also really enjoy this show. Again, for those of you who don't know, it's a show on Sci-Fi about a town that houses all the world's geniuses, and their projects and relations and so on. It's a really creative show, and I like it. And I like it not even because of attractive men! I mean, Sheriff Carter's still pretty good, and Nathan Stark is smoulder-y, but neither are the reason I watch. It's a great ensemble show, with very interesting plot lines. Watch it.House:
Good show, and have been watching, and am caught up. I don't really have much to say about it, though. Hugh Laurie's a sexy bitch? (Contributing to my coworker's theory that I only want older British men?)Pushing Daisies:
I can't say enough good things about this show. I love it. I love the costumes, I love the characters, I love the storylines...I love this show SO much. I love Lee Pace. (He's my new obsession. Like -- John Cusack level. [I know! Crazy!]) The bad thing? It's no longer on. (There are rumors that it's going to another network, I think...but I haven't really looked, because I'm afraid.) There are also 3 episodes that were released in Germany, but not in the US, because they want to decide what's happening. The creator apparently has said if another network doesn't pick it up, there will be a movie, or at the very least, a comic book. Which -- is necessary. I can't gush enough about this show. Watch it. Love it.
So -- yes. There are also a couple of other shows that I'm watching (Dead Like Me, Dexter, and Rescue Me), but I'm not caught up on those yet. Seriously -- where has my TV watching part been? I need to stop watching reality crap on VH1 with argleblather
. So many better things to watch. Curious what y'all think, if you're watching these shows too.
