[Geek] Fucking Moogles

Veronica Mars

Feeling: aggravatedaggravated
Yes, at some point, I will update about my life. Perhaps when I have one, and am not smothered by the weight of the bar exam.

However, I am stressed about television. Veronica Mars, to be specific.

Cut for spoilers. But if you've watched, please read! I need solace!Collapse )

And yes, I know I'm about a million years behind with my TV watching. Don't care. Oh -- and if you're commenting, I'm not finished with the first season. So no further spoilers, please!

I have three dreamwidth codes. Anyone want one?

I may even eventually post over there!

Epic FAIL, Yahoo.

Posting spoilers from a show on your front page the day after they happen = uncool. Not everyone gets to watch IMMEDIATELY, and it's ridiculous that they should be lambasted with "BLAH BLAH BLAH" happened in last night's show ON YOUR FRONT PAGE WHEN THEY ONLY WANT TO CHECK THEIR MAIL.

So yeah. Fuck you, Yahoo.

(-feels a little better since that rhymes. But only a little-)

Because I've been watching a lot of TV lately...

Feeling: sleepysleepy
I've been watching a fair share (well, probably slightly more -- maybe -- my share and -- three quarters of someone else's...) of TV, and I've decided to share my thoughts with you all on what I've been watching. This includes: Bones, Castle, Eureka, House, and Pushing Daisies. (Done in alphabetical order, because I might hyperventilate if I had to choose between whether I like Bones or Pushing Daisies more.)

Bones: Cut for Possible Definite Spoilers
Yay Bones!goodness...Collapse )

wintercreek: Are you watching Bones? Because if not, you might like it. mouradar and I have decided Booth (David Boreanaz) is Ray and Fraser combined.

For those of you who don't know, Castle is a new show on ABC, starring Nathan Fillion (yum!). As far as I know, there's only been three episodes. He stars as a burned out mystery writer who decides to shadow an actual cop (played by Stana Katic, who is pretty much unknown to me, although according to IMDB, she did something with Heroes. I don't remember her, which isn't a good sign). I'm hoping it hits its stride soon, because I really enjoy watching Nathan Fillion do things.

Things that I would fix, were it my show:
1. There's no chemistry AT ALL between Fillion and Katic. Which, can't really be fixed, per se, but -- it's pretty obvious that they're both eventually going to dig each other.
2. The girl who plays Fillion's daughter is adorable, but her character sucks. She's one of those "my father's irresponsible, so I'm going to be supergood!daughter and do nothing wrong." Wait -- correction -- there's a scene where she has a breakdown because she didn't tell her Dad about the time she jumped a turnstyle. And she ends up sentencing herself to a week's grounding. I get what they're trying to do, but I feel like it's missing the mark.
3. The crimes "tie themselves up" too quickly, only to be revealed that they really don't know who the killer is. So far all episodes have followed the same pattern, and it's a little boring.
4. Nathan Fillion needs to stop being quite so -- detective-y and astute. It's not likely. I don't care how much crime writing he does. He wouldn't be that good right away. Similarly, stop pushing how popular he is. Don't care if he knows Judge So-and-so. Just makes him look like a jerk.
5. Not enough funny.

I also really enjoy this show. Again, for those of you who don't know, it's a show on Sci-Fi about a town that houses all the world's geniuses, and their projects and relations and so on. It's a really creative show, and I like it. And I like it not even because of attractive men! I mean, Sheriff Carter's still pretty good, and Nathan Stark is smoulder-y, but neither are the reason I watch. It's a great ensemble show, with very interesting plot lines. Watch it.

Good show, and have been watching, and am caught up. I don't really have much to say about it, though. Hugh Laurie's a sexy bitch? (Contributing to my coworker's theory that I only want older British men?)

Pushing Daisies:
I can't say enough good things about this show. I love it. I love the costumes, I love the characters, I love the storylines...I love this show SO much. I love Lee Pace. (He's my new obsession. Like -- John Cusack level. [I know! Crazy!]) The bad thing? It's no longer on. (There are rumors that it's going to another network, I think...but I haven't really looked, because I'm afraid.) There are also 3 episodes that were released in Germany, but not in the US, because they want to decide what's happening. The creator apparently has said if another network doesn't pick it up, there will be a movie, or at the very least, a comic book. Which -- is necessary. I can't gush enough about this show. Watch it. Love it.

So -- yes. There are also a couple of other shows that I'm watching (Dead Like Me, Dexter, and Rescue Me), but I'm not caught up on those yet. Seriously -- where has my TV watching part been? I need to stop watching reality crap on VH1 with argleblather. So many better things to watch. Curious what y'all think, if you're watching these shows too.

...Must mean Armageddon. Don't worry, this isn't a real upate. It's a meme. It's strange, because I find I'm either on the really early end of things, and am generally uninterested, and then by the time it makes itself around to a different section of my flist, I get interested, but everyone else is all -- "we are le tired."

But! wintercreek's indulging me, and the rest of you should, too.

So -- the meme. From what she's told me, it goes something like this. (Okay, so I'm quoting...)

Association MemeCollapse )

That's that, and now I'm off to bed.

Time for another update, lovies:

I am not going to London. While I'm a little sad about that, I'm going to the Hague instead. For those of you who don't know, the Hague is international law mecca. It's where they make alphabet soup: ICC (International Criminal Court), ICJ (International Court of Justice), ICTY (International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia), etc. etc. etc. This is VERY exciting. After all the crap I went through to try to get permission to work in London (and not getting it, which is why I'm going to the Netherlands instead), this is a nice surprise.

However, I can't breathe. I was supposed to start work in London on 12 January. Which is ONE WEEK from today. BUT I am no longer going to London, but my father (and to a lesser extent, the people I'm working for) still expect me to be there on 12 January. As of 2:00 PM EST on 5 Jan, I do not have:
-a place to live
-a flight
-permission to work in the Netherlands
-another weekend before I leave

I am mega bummed that it's 99.9999999999% likely I'm not going to be able to go out with friends before I leave. But -- that's okay, right? This is an amazing opportunity and we can hang out when I get back?

I'm very excited, but I'm also nauseous and extremely anxious. Go go gadget whirlwind emotions! Wish me luck!

Ha ha.

Ha HA ha ha ha.
